About the Cross Disability Coalition for Delaware County
The Cross Disability Coalition of Delaware County is a network of people, groups and organizations that advocate for persons with developmental disabilities. We share information, resources and support in a collaborative effort to advance common-ground goals. The Coalition recognizes the need for fundamental and systemic change in Pennsylvania's system of supports and services to persons with disabilities and their families.
We have come together to build a bridge to a future where every person, regardless of the type of disability, can receive the supports and services needed to participate fully in community life.
This demonstration project, one of two in our state, is funded by a grant from the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council to, in their words, “support the formation of new cross-disability advocacy groups or coalitions of existing groups so that they can work together in new ways on the local level.”
The goals of this project are to:
a) strengthen local advocacy; b) enhance public awareness of disability issues; and c) support underserved populations and geographic locations in Delaware County
The Coalition is emerging from a demonstration project funded by the PA Developmental Disabilities Council. The grant for this project was awarded to The Arc of Delaware County.
